Conf.dr. Rodica BRANZEI Universitatea Alexandru Ioan Cuza, Facultatea de Informatica Iasi Romania ----------------------------------- Strongly essential coalitions and the nucleolus of peer group games ----------------------------------- ABSTRACT ----------------------------------- This talk deals with a small class of cooperative games with transferable utility, so-called peer group games, and algorithms for computing the nucleolus of such games. Peer group games arise from economic and operations research situations in which agents with potential individual possibilities are connected via a hierarchy within an organization. The class of peer group games and computational properties of its solution concepts have been introduced in the joint paper with Vito Fragnelli an Stef Tijs: "Tree-connected peer group situations and peer group games", MMOR (2002) 55: 93-106. We have focused on the nucleolus of a subclass of peer group games in "On the computation of the nucleolus of line-graph peer group games", published in Scientific Annnals of the "Alexandru Ioan Cuza" University, Computer Science Section (2000), Tome IX: 79-91. The most recent paper on the nucleolus of peer group games has been published in IJGT (2005) 33: 447-460: "Strongly essential coalitions and the nucleolus of peer group games", co-authored by Tamas Solymosi and Stef Tijs. We propose an efficient algorithm that computes the nucleolus of an n-player peer group game in O(n^2) time directly from the data of the underlying peer group situation. This algorithm has been illustrated on a 9-player game.
